Breed: Thoroughbred Gender: Mare Age: 15 Height: 15.3hh Color: Dark Bay Disciplines: Prospect for Any Discipline Adoption fee: $1,300 Location: Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare Inc. — Rio Grande, PR Mia – A True Survivor Ready for Her Next Chapter ❤️🐴 Mia’s story is one of incredible resilience. She came to Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare from the island of Vieques after surviving abandonment, Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and even foaling a baby before being left in critical condition. Thanks to a local rescue and a ferry trip in December 2021, Mia made her way to safety—and never looked back. Today, Mia is thriving. Despite everything she has endured, she has regained her strength and spirit and is truly a remarkable horse. Athletic & VersatileMia is a talented and willing partner under saddle. She has the ability to go in a variety of directions, including sport horse disciplines such as eventing, and enjoys having a job. She is forward and capable, making her best suited for an intermediate to experienced rider. Health & ManagementMia is piroplasmosis positive, which means she must remain in Puerto Rico. She also has mild arthritis in her fetlocks and can experience some limb swelling, so she does best in a home where she can have plenty of turnout and consistent movement. On the ground, Mia can be a bit anxious in certain situations such as grooming or wash stalls, so she will benefit from a confident, patient handler who understands her needs. The Details✔️ Up to date on all vaccinations, deworming, and farrier care✔️ Sound and enjoys being in work✔️ Best suited for an experienced home Mia is looking for a committed partner here in Puerto Rico who will appreciate both her story and her potential. She’s not just a survivor—she’s a horse who still has so much to give. Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare Inc. is a rescue; this horse is for adoption, not for sale.
