About this item

Breed: Thoroughbred Gender: Mare Age: 7 Height: 14.3hh Color: Bay Disciplines: Companion, Lessons/Therapy, Therapy - Non-Riding Adoption fee: $500 Location: Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare Inc. — Rio Grande, PR Respondedora (“Aurora”) – A Gentle Survivor with a Heart to Heal ❤️ Respondedora, lovingly known as “Aurora,” is a mare whose story speaks of resilience, survival, and quiet strength. She came to us as an abandonment case after being given away from the racetrack to individuals unable to care for her. She was later found under a bridge—lame, underweight, and in need of urgent help. With the assistance of local police, she was brought to safety at Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare. Aurora was diagnosed with chronic abscesses in both front feet and a pellet lodged in her left hind fetlock. Through careful rehabilitation, her feet have recovered, and while the pellet cannot be removed, it has been successfully managed. A Heart for HealingDespite everything she has endured, Aurora remains kind, gentle, and deeply deserving of connection. Horses like Aurora often form meaningful bonds with people, making her a wonderful candidate for a therapy, equine-assisted learning, or companion home. Due to intermittent soundness related to her past injuries, Aurora is best suited for a non-riding lifestyle where her comfort is the priority. She thrives in a calm, consistent environment with turnout, companionship, and kind handling. The Details✔️ Up to date on vaccinations, deworming, and farrier care✔️ Best suited for therapy, companion, or sanctuary placement✔️ Gentle disposition and resilient spirit Aurora is looking for a special person or program that will see her not for what she’s been through—but for the quiet, healing presence she offers. Some horses carry a story. Others help you rewrite your own. Aurora is both. Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare Inc. is a rescue; this horse is for adoption, not for sale.
