Breed: Grade Gender: Gelding Age: 3 Height: 14.1hh Color: Other Disciplines: Endurance, Trail Riding, Gaited Adoption fee: $2,000 Location: ASPCA Equine Transition and Adoption Center at Nexus Equine — El Reno, OK Ichabod - lovingly referred to as "Icky" - is a 14.1hh, 3 year old gaited cremello Kentucky Mountain Horse gelding with an expected mature height aroudn 14.3hh. This friendly guy is an in-your-pocket type who is curious and quick to learn. Icky was collected as a feral horse in Eastern Kentucky. After arriving at Kentucky Humane Society, he was gelded, enrolled in a groundwork training program, and well-prepared to start his next chapter. Ichabod ties, knows basic ground work, yields his shoulders and haunches, backs, sends out on the lunge line, roundpens, has been introduced to a saddle pad and saddle, and has recently started roundpen work in a bareback pad with a cinch. So far, he hasn't batted an eye at new equipment or surroundings, and is curious and very calm in training sessions. Icky has demonstrated a talent for gaited work but also trots and canters in the roundpen. He stands quietly for baths, farrier work, and minor treatments, and enjoys being groomed. He trailer loads and unloads quietly. If you like the laid-back and friendly type, Icky is your guy. Based on his willing and curious attitude, we expect this youngster will be a rewarding project for someone looking to develop a suitable, life-long partner. ASPCA is a rescue; this horse is for adoption, not for sale. Rescue website: http://www.aspca.org
