About this item

Breed: Thoroughbred Gender: Mare Age: 4 Height: 15.1hh Color: Bay Disciplines: Driving, Eventing, Western Pleasure, Trail Riding, Endurance, Dressage, English Pleasure, Hunter/Jumper, Prospect for Any Discipline Adoption fee: $2,000 Location: After the Races — Elkton, MD Sweet Manhattan is a beautiful 4 year old filly that came to us in partnership with Aftercare Charles Town. We need to put a stick on her but she's likely about 15.2 hands on her tippy toes. She looks like she has a powerful little build and will be on the stockier side once she fills out. She's very well bred and if you are a fan of Indian Charlie, Bernadini, Gone West and Storm Cat bloodlines, look no further! Our first impression of this girl is that she's sweet, curious, and has a very nice temperament. She had a great intake evaluation with our vet who found her sound, even barefoot on concrete! She noted one small osslet that's old and cold with great range of motion that she did not feel was limiting. After a very strenuous career of 24 races, we couldn't ask for more than that! She has no known limitations and could go in any direction. While she hasn't been here long, she has no vices that we've observed. After the career she had, she definitely deserves some time to be a horse and let down from racing. So while she's available to the right person with the right experience who enjoys the restart process, she'll definitely be getting at least a month of just turnout time here before we put her back to work. She just arrived, so please be patient with us. We will update the page as soon as we can with pictures and more information as we have it. After the Races is a rescue; this horse is for adoption, not for sale. Rescue website: http://www.aftertheraces.org
