About this item

Breed: Thoroughbred Gender: Gelding Age: 11 Height: 17.0hh Color: Chestnut Disciplines: Driving, Eventing, Western Pleasure, Trail Riding, Endurance, Dressage, English Pleasure, Hunter/Jumper, Prospect for Any Discipline Adoption fee: $3,500 Location: After the Races — Elkton, MD Jericho Marsh is a big, gorgeous 11 year old gelding who stands just a hair over 17 hands. This big guy is beautifully bred being by First Samurai and out of a Rahy mare, and for those who know, it's no surprise he's got such a solid build. He originally retired from racing at the end of 2020 after a career of 30 starts and was adopted soon after coming through ATR the first time. He was recently returned due to financial restraints on his owner and no fault of his own. He comes back to us with almost 6 years off the track and a lot of great experiences to speak for! Jericho had a terrific intake evaluation with our vet who noted he had excellent muscle development, great feet, and an excellent prognosis to go in any direction. He is a little asymmetric behind, but in no way that is limiting. We've only just started riding Jericho again (to be fair, he hasn't been back long!) and we can tell he has some good training in there. His first adopter did a good bit of dressage, trails and some jumping with him though it's been a bit since he's been going over fences and would need a bit of a restart there. Sitting on Jericho is to know what it's like to sit on a powerful horse. He's not just big, he is in excellent condition and has a lot of what I like to call "potential energy." He's a fun horse to ride, and has some good training, but he needs some refreshing and is not suitable for beginners. He's just a big, powerful dude! He would make a really fun mount for a confident adult amateur, or make a great all-around partner for someone who enjoys setting goals and working toward them through lessons and training. If you like a big, forward-thinking guy and don't mind doing some refreshing, you'll get the benefit of his time spent off the track and have one really awesome partner. Jericho has no vices, gets along well with other horses in turnout, and is currently front-shod. He's up to date on everything and ready to rock and roll! After the Races is a rescue; this horse is for adoption, not for sale. Message After the Races here on tacktack to ask about Jericho Marsh and the adoption process.
