About this item

Breed: American Quarter Horse Gender: Filly Age: 2 Height: 14.0hh Color: Dun Disciplines: Companion Adoption fee: $850 Location: Mountain Shadows Equine Revival — Laramie, WY Saige is a spunky yet sweethearted 2 year old filly looking for her forever home! Saige is a special case, as she has Carpal Valgus in her front legs, meaning she is knock-kneed. Because of this, Saige will never be a riding horse, but rather would be best suited to a life as a companion horse, pasture friend, or as a non-riding horse in an equine therapy program. This wonderful young filly shows excellent ground manners for her age, loves to receive and give affection, and leads quietly on a halter. She has quickly learned to respect personal space and responds well to pressure and release. She stands patiently for grooming and the farrier, demonstrating her calm and cooperative temperament and a great foundation for continued training on the ground. Because of her knock-knees, Saige will require more frequent farrier care and potentially special shoes to help support her joints and mobility as she grows. Saige would likely do best with handlers of the Intermediate level: someone who has a working knowledge of horse behavior and herd dynamics, and can catch, halter, and lead horses comfortably. She would be an excellent match for a home seeking a kind, easygoing young horse to grow up in a stable, attentive environment. With her pleasant demeanor and sound management history, Saige offers a wonderful opportunity for an adopter looking for a loving and reliable equine companion. Mountain Shadows Equine Revival is a rescue; this horse is for adoption, not for sale. Message Mountain Shadows Equine Revival here on tacktack to ask about Saige and the adoption process.
