About this item

Breed: Curly Horse, Haflinger, Shetland Pony, Gypsy Horse Gender: Mare Age: 30 Height: 13.3hh Color: Dark Bay Disciplines: Companion Adoption fee: $1,000 Location: Mountain Shadows Equine Revival — Laramie, WY Betty is a (estimated) 30-year-old mare with a kind, gentle disposition and a well-established foundation in handling. She has been diagnosed with Cushing’s disease and is best suited for a non-riding, companion-only home where her health can be appropriately managed and monitored. She is well mannered on the ground, easy to handle, and accustomed to routine care. Betty stands quietly for daily handling and demonstrates the calm, predictable behavior that comes from a lifetime of proper training and interaction with people. In her earlier years, she was trained under saddle and for carting, and while she is no longer used for either, this background contributes to her reliability and cooperative nature. Betty’s sweet demeanor and steady temperament make her a pleasure to be around and an excellent match for a home seeking a low-stress, affectionate companion. She would do well in a calm environment with consistent care and attention, and she is suitable for adopters of any experience levels who are prepared to meet her ongoing management needs. She takes daily Prascend pills, and requires soaked feed due to her missing teeth so she cannot chew hay properly. Betty offers a rewarding opportunity to provide a comfortable, supportive home to a truly kind mare. Mountain Shadows Equine Revival is a rescue; this horse is for adoption, not for sale.
