About this item

Breed: Thoroughbred Gender: Gelding Age: 18 Height: 16.2hh Color: Sorrel Disciplines: Companion, Prospect for Any Discipline Adoption fee: $500 Location: Nexus Equine-Ellie — Oklahoma City, OK Beach Boy 🌊 This sweet gelding is ready to find a home where he can continue learning and building his skills. Beach Boy can be a little shy at first, but bring out the treats and you'll quickly discover the way to his heart! He enjoys being brushed and has been excellent for the veterinarian. Beach Boy is making very quick progress with his handling and ground manners. He is a fast learner with bright, gentle eyes and a willingness to figure things out. He is still working on picking up all four feet, standing tied, and becoming more comfortable with new experiences. He can be reactive at times, so a patient handler who can continue building his confidence will be important. In his first week of learning groundwork, we were very impressed with how quickly he figured things out! Beach Boy has an older injury to his right hind hoof that has resulted in a permanently altered hoof wall appearance. This is an established change in the hoof's shape rather than something expected to grow out. We have x-rays on both hind legs available and vet notes over that as well. Beach Boy has more potential than he might initially let on! With continued consistency and a dedicated trainer, he may develop into a nice trail partner down the road. He has a good foundation to build on, learns quickly, and is proving to be a fun horse to work with. Even if he doesn't have a ridden future, he would be a perfect companion to your horse out in the pasture. He gets along very easily and has a calm demeanor out in the fields. Beach Boy would love a home where he can continue learning, enjoy plenty of pasture time, and build a relationship with someone willing to help him reach his potential! Nexus Equine, Inc. is a rescue; this horse is for adoption, not for sale. Rescue website: https://www.nexusequine.org
