Breed: Thoroughbred Gender: Gelding Age: 4 Height: 16.2hh Color: Bay Disciplines: Driving, Eventing, Western Pleasure, Trail Riding, Endurance, Dressage, English Pleasure, Hunter/Jumper, Western Performance, Prospect for Any Discipline Adoption fee: $3,000 Location: After the Races — Elkton, MD Union Gem is a 4 year old, 16.1+ hand, bay gelding that came to us recently in partnership with Beyond the Wire in Maryland. He is a very handsome guy with a lot of presence and some of that may come from his great breeding, being by Union Rags and out of a Tiznow mare. While he was in training at the track he was always a bit slow and had some issues with the gate, so his connections decided to let him go without ever sending him to his first race. Gem arrived to us in great shape and was quickly seen my our vet who found him sound and uncomplicated on his intake exam. He even arrived barefoot and still jogged nice and sound on the concrete! He has no known limitations and should be able to go in any direction. Gem is still setting in to life at ATR but seems like a really good guy. We were told his connections including his vet at the track all really liked him and enjoyed working with him. He has no vices and while he arrived barefoot we'll likely get front shoes on him soon. Like all our horses, he's getting some nice time to be a horse and let down from training at the track, but he is available to the right home with the experience to restart him themselves. He is definitely one to take a chance on! After the Races is a rescue; this horse is for adoption, not for sale. Message After the Races here on tacktack to ask about Union Gem and the adoption process.
