Breed: Thoroughbred Gender: Gelding Age: 7 Height: 16.3hh Color: Bay Disciplines: Companion, Prospect for Any Discipline Adoption fee: $1,000 Location: Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare Inc. — Rio Grande, PR Krypton – A Handsome Project with Potential Krypton is a striking Kentucky-bred Thoroughbred who raced 23 times before retiring at 6 years old. He arrived in Puerto Rico from Gulfstream Park in 2023 and came into our care at Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare in March 2025. Krypton retired with arthritis in both front fetlocks and a left front tendon injury. He took some time to adjust to life off the track and rehab, including turnout and a new routine, but is now settling in and beginning to move forward. Recently restarted under saddle, Krypton is in the early stages of his second career. He is currently working on ground manners, balance, and coordination, and will benefit from a knowledgeable rider or trainer who can continue his development with patience and consistency. Krypton can be a bit nippy when being handled, particularly in new situations, so he does best with clear boundaries and confident, consistent handling. With routine and structure, this behavior is manageable and improving. Best Fit HomeKrypton is best suited for an experienced home or trainer looking for a project horse with potential. With the right program, he could develop into a rewarding partner for low-impact disciplines.
