He is a good sized yearling, and his mama was quite thickly built. I believe he is estimated to mature around 15hh. He currently trots in the pasture, but should also be gaited. He has had a real night and day transformation since Joey started with him in March. He is so friendly (sometimes, perhaps too friendly), curious, bold, and energetic. Everything he does, he jumps in with both feet and just tackles it. As long as he has a confident handler, I don't think there's anything he won't try! Right now, Triscuit can: Lead Load Tie Bathe Wear a saddle blanket Do some basic lateral movements Stand for the farrier Be caught out in the big field Accept fly spray Pony off another horse Triscuit is working on: Lunging Personal space Not fidgeting while tied Trotting in hand This little guy is going to go so far in life and I can't wait to see him perform at the ATFO! He is truly one of a kind - fun, flashy, and with heaps of personality! He is currently adoptable to a confident handler with young horse experience. He is young and does like to push his boundaries (and yours. He truly does not believe in personal space). He follows you like a dog in the pasture and I believe he would try to climb into our laps if he could. If you think #HOPTeamTriscuit could be right for you, ask us how you can apply to be his person! There are no limits on what this pretty boy will be able to do, whether you want a bold trail horse or a flashy show mount (or both). Joey started with Triscuit in late March, and this little guy has been improving in leaps and bounds! He is naturally curious with personality to spare. He loves carrying around his feed buckets after dinner, playing in the water trough, terrorizing his various babysitters, and giving kisses to any people in his vicinity. When he got here, Triscuit was underweight and very anxious. He would not abide anyone standing on his right side or touching behind his withers without trying to move and spin out of the way. With slow, consistent work, good feed, and ulcer medication, he has improved so much! He has become so fun and affectionate, and he's much more willing to be involved in what we're doing instead of trying to get away as quickly as he can. Triscuit is learning to yield to pressure and doing very well, and has started on the basics of lunging. He picks up his feet, leads at the walk and trot, and we are starting to introduce blankets/other novel objects and obstacles. He will also be introduced to ponying in the next few weeks. He is going to make someone a super fun and flashy horse one day! He will require an adopter with young horse experience to continue his training. If that's you, make sure to apply in time for the ATFO in August! Adoption fees may be outdated, as a horse may have moved into training, so check us on most current fee. Horses typically adopted UTD on vaccines, dental floats, farrier care and all vet needs. We are looking to adopt to safe homes. A history of good horsemanship, the ability to provide sufficient care with good vet, farrier and peer references are important. If you are a first time horse owner, we will require you to board at a facility for the first year while you learn more about care. We encourage everyone to take advantage of riding lessons. Foal adoptions require previous, established experience with youngsters. Our adoption process makes sure you get the right horse for you – it is a no fail process for finding the right match.
