And as you can clearly see, she is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous! Mish has only been with us for a short time, so we are still getting to know her. Her first weeks here have largely been about settling in and adjusting to a new environment and routine after living in her previous home for quite some time. We want to give her the opportunity to settle and show us who she is rather than rushing her before she’s had time to adjust to such a big change. So far, we’ve gotten to know Mish as a confident, smart, and energetic young mare with plenty of personality. She has previously been started under saddle and lived in a boarding-style environment, where she was stalled at night, turned out during the day, and reportedly did well with other horses. She enjoys a routine and seems to appreciate a balance of turnout and time in the barn, especially when the weather isn’t great. Mish is a spunky young horse who will do best with a confident, experienced handler. She may test boundaries to see what she can get away with, but she is not mean. Consistency, clear expectations, and keeping her mind and body engaged will go a long way with her as she continues to mature. Recently, prior to coming into our care, Mish was reported to have developed equine headshaking syndrome and has been out of riding work since. Though it has not been an especially prevalent issue in our care, we are still learning what, if anything, may specifically trigger it for her. An adopter interested in continuing her riding career should be willing to learn more about the condition and potentially explore management options with their veterinarian. We’re happy to talk more about what we know with anyone interested in Mish. Mish has a great quality of life, is easy to care for, and is up to date with her medical care. We also think she would enjoy having equine friends again! At only six years old, she has so much life ahead of her, and we would love to see her find someone excited to invest in her future, continue getting to know her, and help this special young mare become the best version of herself.
