Breed: Standardbred Gender: Gelding Age: 2 Height: 15.0hh Color: Bay Disciplines: Dressage, Endurance, Driving, Prospect for Any Discipline, Trail Riding Adoption fee: $6,000 Location: Lucky 7 Horse Rescue — Isanti, MN We’ve got an absolute beauty for you! A beauty and the Beast if you will. Meet “Baia N the Beast” a 2 yr old Standardbred gelding. This youngster has already retired from his race career after a qualifying race where he said he just didn’t want to be a race horse. That means he gets to leap into a new career! He is healthy and sound, just didn’t have the need for speed to stay harness racing. Now I know what you're thinking, no way do I want a 2 yr old! Well let me tell you, this guy is absolutely amazing and acts more like a 12 yr old than a 2 yr old. Yes he has a busy brain a little and tries to nibble on things (especially if you leave brushes out), but he is safe safe safe. He has been ridden in the bluffs in Wisconsin, around the trails in Minnesota, and is also amazing in an arena. He has had people of all different experiences ride him, including beginners! Off-the-track Standardbreds are not the hot horses like you may experience with Thoroughbreds. They are known for their calm, forgiving attitudes and are commonly used in therapy programs. Standardbreds start pulling a cart at age 1 to get ready for their 2 yr old race year, so he already has over a year's worth of training on him even though he's only been under saddle for a couple of months. This boy will move off of leg, is soft to cues of the bridle, and is such a wonderful companion to have as a riding (or driving) partner! Lucky 7 Horse Rescue offers a Standardbred Rehoming Program for owners to safely rehome their retiring racehorses in a way that acknowledges the value of their horses. Off-the-track Standardbreds come with a lot of excellent handling and care, and are extreme athletes. When they are working, they are all “business mode”. When their harness is off, however, they show their goofy personalities! Every Standardbred has their unique set of goofy quirks - some like to twirl their heads, others like to stick their tongues out, and even more like to wiggle their lips! Like most Standardbreds, Beast comes with these wonderful qualities: ✅Stands tied ✅Cross-ties ✅Trailers like a champ ✅Good for farrier ✅Stands for baths ✅UTD on everything Standardbreds offered through our Standardbred Rehoming Program are NOT rescues. They have been loved and cared for their entire lives, valued as race horses. The Standardbred Rehoming Program exists to give horse owners the option to safely rehome their off-the-track Standardbreds in a way that acknowledges the value of their horses. Many of these horses would be sold for double or triple the price to go work on rural farms, as they are valued by those communities as working animals and transportation. When adopting a horse in our Standardbred Rehoming Program, half of the fee goes to the previous owner of the horse, and half goes directly into getting two or three Standardbreds away from the hard work of working on rural farms. Lucky 7 Horse Rescue is a rescue; this horse is for adoption, not for sale. Message Lucky 7 Horse Rescue here on tacktack to ask about Baia N The Beast and the adoption process.
